Our Physician Assistants |
Physician assistants (PAs) are health care professionals licensed to practice
medicine with physician supervision. PAs are trained in intensive education programs accredited by the Commission
on Accreditation of Allied Education Programs. Upon Graduation, PAs take a national certification examination developed
by the National Commission on Certification of PAs in conjunction with the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Upon passing this certifying exam, PAs become PA-Cs. To maintain their national certification, PA-Cs must log 100
hours of continuing education every two years and sit for a recertification exam every six years. Graduation from
an accredited physician assistant program and passage of the national certifying exam are required for North Carolina
State licensure.
The PA-Cs most often work at Forsyth Medical Center and occasionally at Medical Park Hospital. They perform the
initial consultation, assessment and education of our patients scheduled for interventional procedures. They also
follow up with the patients after their procedure is completed. In addition to working with interventional radiology,
our PAs perform select fluoroscopic exams, and work closely with the Radiologist to interpret the results. |
