Vascular and Interventional

Interventional radiologists are specially trained Radiologists who use X-rays and other imaging techniques to guide narrow tubes (catheters) and other very small instruments through the blood vessels and other parts of the body to the site of concern. They can treat a variety of medical disorders without surgery. Procedures performed by interventional radiologists (IRs) involve smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter hospital stays generally resulting in less cost to the patient. For more information about the variety of procedures IRs perform, please visit the
Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology's web site.

The most common procedure the IRs perform is an angiogram.
